Prune Raspberries At Once Says Ford
Brookings April 4 P Now is the time to prune raspberries, says A L Ford extension horticulturist at South Dakota State College. Most raspberries bear fruit on two year old wood and each cane yields only one crop. Prune off and burn canes that bore fruit last year to control disease and insect eggs. Thin excess canes to about ten to twelve, and pinch off the top inch of hardy canes to boost next year’s bearing wood.
