Legislature Passes Senate After Being Touched And Altered

The Senate adjourned to address a stream of bills including liquor traffic and supplementary appropriations. Amendments moved by Senator Lyman and others reshaped land and court provisions, with key changes to leases, land patents, and the Circuit Court location, before the session passed several measures and readied others for final action.

The Representatives at Home Report Bills To Sign

The Representatives met at 10 a m and reported that documents were presented to the President for signature including a bill to prevent wanton destruction of game a bill granting an electric chse for Hilo a joint resolution to report on the Pali road a joint resolution to examine the fresh meat trade and a commission report on the Auditor General’s department. Mr Roberta submitted a session to the Minister of terror about landings at Kipabolu and property issues.

Legislature Debates License Term Extensions and Commission Refer

The House debated extending retail spirit license terms on second reading and discussed compensation for dealers found to have operated illegally during orders. Debates clarified martial law sales, jobber permits, and the judiciary committee report. A bill details passed to read a third time. The administration bill was referred to a commission, with members not needing House affiliation, and a motion to adjourn followed a half hour recess. The President signed bills restricting Chinese immigration and deputized officers to administer oaths before adjournment.

Honolulu Calls to Beport for Steamship Touch

Walter Topping of the Oregon Railway and Navigation Company announces routes will include Honolulu as a port of call both ways. Theo H. Davies & Co. says the first steamer will sail to Yokohama around August 8. A New York dispatch notes President Hill plans a Northern Pacific steamship line to rival Canadian Pacific.

Auction sale of Mrs Rooney household furniture

Auction sale tomorrow at 10 o clock by Lovey, selling Mrs P M Rooney’s furniture from Wilder Avenue between Piikoi and Pensacola. Items include black walnut, ash and oak bedroom and dining sets, rockers, chandeliers, bookcase, stoves, kitchen utensils, a horse and carriage, and a quantity of ferns and plants. Stars are favored for Saturday’s game.
