The Senate convened with prayers and minutes, reviewing joint resolutions on the fresh meat trade and electric bills. A petition sought 2750 back salary for J W Robertson. Amendments to land law limited lease sizes to 1000 acres, with officials arguing safeguards against land monopolies. The Land Bill faced readings and votes, ending for recess at 1 30 p.m.
The Senate resumed at 1 30 reading the Land Act while Waterhouse proposed three amendments on Claw lands and improvements. A section was sent back to the Special Committee as others were promised. Baldwin moved to refer back sections 80 onward. carried 8 to 6. Act 12 on telegraph cables progressed to second reading, section by section, followed by routine bill readings. A Labor Commission communication on agricultural laborers was received. Local notes mention horticulture ventures and pineapple plantations near Pearl City with shipments and canneries expanding facilities.
