Crosscut east of Jackson fault 50 feet shows iron staining and quartz with propped conditions. A fault crosscut 100 feet north started this week aiming to trace ore from 400 and 500 levels. High grade ore from two independent shoots on the 400 level south. Uncle Sam mine reports assays of 12.40, 16.50 and 21.00 dollars in gold and silver.
The BH C H S notes election of Pauline Hill as student body president and announces officers Harris Bremenkampf Porch Boston Kitchen Rogantini. A new Edison phonograph arrives with selected records and staff to catalog the library, signaling a practical school improvement. Several 1920 class members return, and a pace is set for the lance record contest amid ongoing tardiness issues.
A divorce suit has been commenced in the District Court by Mae 9. Bigh against Lloyd G. High on the offerusity.
Mr and Mrs Floyd K Grimes of Rannells Creek west of Eureka ranch in 1915 dug a 65 foot deep well with no water. A neighbor dropped a rock to judge depth and found water. The Grimeses then baled the well and discovered a fine stream now supplying domestic and stock needs, ending years of hauling water.
The Butte Sentinel reports the burial of Private Stephen Esterly Jr in Mount Moriah cemetery after being killed in action in France just before the armistice. His mother Mrs Theresa Laun has also died. Services included a Whitechapel ceremony, a Legion guard, pallbearers, a fringe squad, color guard, and bugler.
Miss Marguerite Henderon, teacher in Eu reka public school ages bth and 6th, gains a teacher's certificate in penmanship from the A N Palmer Company for completing the prescribed course and practice teaching in a normal school.
Edward Herrere and Mrs. Kate Morse were united in marriage by Judge Peter Breen at the Europa Hotel in Sureka. The event drew about 50 relatives and friends who attended a southern style supper and then danced until 2 a.m. Free treats from the host entertained guests, including local youths, as the popular Eureka hotel man wed a native daughter.
In Eureka a sad death followed childbirth. Mrs John Littlefair died at 2 p.m. after hemorrhage postdelivery despite remedies. She aged 43 years 11 months 25 days and left husband Joy Lootbourrow two daughters George and Annie 6 and 4 and an infant son. A brother Granville Price survives. Remains to family home on Spring Street with services at 1 p.m. Sunday.
At an adjourned meeting on September 19 the Board of County Commissioners accepted the concrete work on the north side of the Eureka County Court House and allowed Pastor & Schults a claim of 1685 for the construction. No other business was acted upon at this session.

Auto thieves struck Biko with three cars stolen in a single night. Two cars were recovered within town limits after joy rides, but the third car remained unfound. Local authorities sought leads as the spree continued.
Miss Ella Hildebrand and Mr. William P. Rand were married by Rev. J. M. Swander at his Elko home on September 17. The couple, from Eureka and Pine Valley, returned home Sunday to a celebratory charivari from Palisade friends. Ella Hildebrand taught in Pine Valley schools. William Rand ranches in Pine Valley and served 18 months in France. They plan to reside at the Ennor ranch in Pine Valley.
J Sheehan of Winnemucca named by War Finance Corp as president of Farmers and Merchants National Bank Eureka and vice-president of First National Bank Winnemucca. He will review bank loan applications for agricultural and livestock lending. He expects 3 to 5 million dollars in state loans to aid stockmen and lift hay and livestock prices, with blanks ready next week.
John Rossi 51, Italian native who settled in Cortez forty years ago, died September 1 after a long stomach ailment. A hard worker, he ran a dairy ranch and mined a 16 00 foot tunnel on his property. Survived by wife, five children, mother, and sister. interment in Cortez cemetery. Communication in Battle Mountain Scout. Women will admit their husbands had better judgment than they did when it came to marrying.
Emergency reductions in livestock shipping charges take effect September 30 and run through December 21 following a recommendation by the Interstate Commerce Commission. The 1921 Legislature reviewed compulsory laws requiring youths seven to eighteen to attend school or high school. Between fourteen and eighteen a student may enter employment or apprenticeship under conditions, with part time schooling four hours weekly unless excused. An employment certificate must be obtained through the attendance officer and kept by the employer. The aim is that all under eighteen be in school or approved employment.
St Paul Minn Sept 21 A recipe for finding water in gasoline was released by Hjalmar Nilsen Minnesota State Inspector. A curl of molasses on pine sticks will pass through gasoline and when they strike water the sticks will loosen from the sticks. He notes the method has saved thousands of dollars for gasoline users.
Jos eph A. Sheerin reports from Pahrump in Nye County that the Pahrump Ranching Company has struck an artesian flow watering about 1100 acres. The belt was tapped at 428 feet from a bore between the Pahrump and Manse ranches, while a second well reached 400 feet in hard Minestone and was abandoned. Water in the first bore rises within ten feet of the surface.
