Eureka County and Nevada Highway Board approve revised State Route 1 plan

Eureka County Board of Directors approves a revised routing for State Route 1 across Eureka County, replacing the earlier 1 alignment. The plan covers a 4.36 mile section from the west county line to the Dunphy Ranch with 21 foot roadway and 10 foot gravel surfacing, including a new overhead at Shoshone Point and a steel bridge project by the State Highway Department.

Entombed Argonaut Miners Found Dead After Fire

Jackson Cal Sept 13 All 47 miners entombed since August 27 in the Argonaut mine were found dead behind a bulkhead at the 4150 foot level. A note on a body indicated death within five hours of the fire start. Rescue efforts described as grueling lasted days as crews tried to pace through gas and heat to recover the bodies.

Catlin Shale Plant Impresses Visitors From Nevada

Biale and McBride toured the Catlin Shale Company plant near a mine site, noting complete extraction methods and profitable by products. They reported crude shale oil as plant fuel and anticipated wider use for power and heating in Miko and nearby areas, praising high grade lubricating oil for autos and tractors, plus expanding by products. The visitors drove 110 miles to Hureka with satisfaction, commending Catlin for years of private, publicity-free development and practical shale processing valuable to Nevada locales.

Eureka Hamburg Mine Develops New Ore Chute at 300 Feet

L. J. Rosenshine, manager of Eureka-Uncle Sam Mining, reports the first pre chute of the Hamburg mine cut on the Uncle Sam tunnel level at 300 feet depth. A five foot wide opening extends twenty feet, with ore in both directions. The chute contains about 35 percent shipping ore valued at about $50 per ton. The company will develop the chute to block out tonnage and ship only ore from development.

Fishing Season Close Notice for Nevada Fishery

P. Whitmore County Game Warden states Nevada law ends all fishing on September 16 and closes January 1, 1928 with 1922 season. Pay 81.50 for a license to comply.
