Board of Equalization Increases Nevada Assessments

The State Board of Equalization approved higher assessed valuations for six counties Clark 16 28 percent Elko 75 per cent Humboldt 75 per cent Lyon 20 per cent Douglas 16 2 3 per cent Washoe 16 2 3 per cent. Protest by county assessors followed but the raises were upheld. The Reno home of Senator Francis G Newlands was raised from 7500 to 20000.

Water well sinks toward flowing depth near Stone Cabin

Thomas H. Clifford, cattle raiser near Stone Cabin and Saulsberry Wash, reports a well six miles south of the site has reached 238 feet. He expects water within 20 to 30 more feet as ground stays moist. A 3000 gallon wind mill tank and 2 inch cribbing planks are en route. The well sits in heavy bunch grass, supporting 500 to 600 Bar X Cattle Company head. Reed brothers also water stock nearby. Stock activity boosts Nye County wealth.

Tariff Rate Supplement For Empty Packages Returning

The document announced Reduced Rates on Empty Packages Returning under Supplement No. 1 to local freight tariff No. 10 effective August 12, 1915. Boy Walks In His Sleep Falls From Porch Roof

Eight year old Cecil Lear of Carson wandered from an open window in his sleep on Sunday morning and fell fifteen feet to a sloping porch roof. He cried out at impact and survived with a severe cut on his head and leg. He escaped serious injury, a remarkable outcome given the height and fall.

Just Beginning Elko Independent reports a Pioche to open line to settle 200000 acres in Lake valley southern Nevada marking new development. Near Ely Huesser mountain, John Myers former Huesser ranch foreman was found dead by a bullet in his temple with a revolver nearby. He had been missing since July 20 and was said to be despondent over money matters.
