Eureka County reports show Governor votes in Eureka precinct 110 Republican 43 Democrat 10 Non Partisan total 163. County totals list 208 Governor votes and 287 for Congress indicating low voter interest in the primary.
Miss Ermie Sloss returns to Eureka to lead the County Normal School for the new term. A telegram from Mine Siess of Grand Junction Colorado confirms she will arrive to open the school Monday September 25 and urges students to be ready to enroll.
With about 90 percent counted Nevada’s primary results indicate most state and national offices are decided. By noon Thursday Republican senator race remained unsettled with Chandler leading Arents by 178 votes. Miller won Congress, Atkinson AG, Alexander Secretary of State, Miller Governor. Democrats nominated Serugham for Governor and Richards for Congress, Non Partisan favor Sanders and Talbot for Supreme Court Justice. Returns from the university race unavailable.
Eureka County Commissioners and the State Highway Department settle on a graded road between the Welch Canyon area and Lincoln Highway near Hay Ranch. A two-week survey by the Highway Department precedes Spring construction, following extensive input from the Eureka County Chamber of Commerce and local taxpayers. The Eureka County Bank building will host a new chamber club room open day and night, with designated evenings for wives and election-night access.
In California 47 miners trapped at the Argonaut mine are believed dead as rescue efforts stall after a 20 foot advance. The crew plans to press on for about 250 more feet but authorities warn of a grim outcome.
