Ford Plans To Pay One Dollar An Hour

Henry Ford aims to run factories 24 hours a day with four shifts and six hours per worker while paying each laborer one dollar an hour. The move would replace the standard five dollar day, reflecting Ford’s willingness to invest in labor even as Wall Street questions its feasibility amid large profits and stock value.

State Receives Big Government Check For Nevada Roads

Governor Boyle announced a Treasury check of 17597 dollars 15 cents to Nevada representing 25 percent of grazing and timber land lease moneys. Funds are to aid public schools and county roads in forest-reserve areas with distributions listed for Douglas Elko Esmeralda Eureka Humboldt Lincoln Lyon Mineral Nye White Pine and Washoe counties.

Poisoning Jack Rabbits Proves Successful

R A Ward of the U S biological survey spoke in Austin about jack rabbit extermination in Nevada. He cited a four year program testing methods and said poison is the most effective and economical, noting a cooperative Oregon effort where 75,000 rabbits were killed in December and January before fading in June. He warned against heavy spending on poison now and urged individual farms to run their own camps, with winter and summer poisons having limited value in the Carter’s ranch experiment.
