Mutton Prices to Be Higher Amid Wool Shortage
Wool Growers' Association president F. J. Hagenbarth warned at Salt Lake City that mutton prices will rise further even after peace. He cited a 20 percent flock shortage in the next census, global supply tightness, and high costs of lambing and winter feeding requiring sheep to yield 10 pounds of wool at 20 cents and 80 percent lambs to avoid losses.
