Savage Tire Company Starts Shale Sand Road Bed Test
The Savage Tire Company of California begins practical experiments to create a permanent roadbed on the Lincoln Highway portion between Salt Wells and Sand Springs near Fallon Nevada. Engineer leads mixing basaltic shale sand and clayey silt to form a natural cement with high water and wear resistance. A test section of several hundred yards will be built on the south side toward Sand Springs. A well at the point will be drilled and called the Savage Tire well for travelers. Work expected to occupy about two months.
