Brakeman A C Purlong Fell From Moving Train
A 31 year old brakeman named A C Purlong fell from a Southern Pacific freight train between Sparks and Wadeworth Saturday night. He was found dead near Gillipin station about 3 oclock the next morning by a west bound freight train. His crew did not discover him until arriving at Wadsworth after he had gone on duty at Sparks.

Culprit Apprehended in East Jacob Vanicek Case
An elko County youth known as East Jacob Vanicek, previously sent to the State Industrial School for destroying railroad block signals, has been captured in New Jersey at his parents home. George Smith, Governor Boyle’s private secretary, transported the boy back to Nevada. Vanicek reportedly beat his way across the continent in five days after escaping the school.
