Beowawe Nevada October 2 A disastrous head on collision on the Salt Lake division of the Southern Pacific last Thursday night between the first section of No 6 the Atlantic express from San Francisco and the second section of No 219 a west bound freight killed Allen Harper about 34 of Pocatello Idaho and injured twenty others Relief trains from Winnemucca and Carlin brought doctors aboard a passenger nurse aided the injured The crash telescoped a coach and the body was extricated after about two hours Conductor Dorsey of 219 acted to allow an eastbound freight to pull out and the passenger engineer failed to see the oncoming No 6 in time

A South Bend inventor, F. B. Smith, claims a steam generator will replace boilers in engines for power and heating.
