Reno officials warned last week the new federal building will be too small for the Post Office Surveyor General United States District Attorney and other offices. Senator Nixon asked Treasury to delay bids but exterior changes are not possible interior adjustments planned. A Reno Citizens League formed from 50 leaders to push civic reforms will target gambling licensing and seek a special election if City Council stalls.

Western Pacific route may be altered from Denver story
Denver reports the Western Pacific could bypass Salt Lake, leaving the Rio Grande at Green River to traverse central Utah and Nevada, cross the Southern Pacific at Reno, pass Beckwith Pass through the Sierras and down the California line, shortening the trip by about 186 miles and possibly delivering coast access six hours earlier. Salt Lake would still gain faster through transit via a Rio Grande connection.
