Tonopah Mining Company reports strong ore values and mill plans

The Tonopah Mining Company published its annual report on May 2 with favorable comment from the New York Commercial. It shows 1903 ore shipped totaling 4,000 tons value over 600,000 dollars, averaging more than 150 dollars per ton, while 1904 shipments exceeded 16,000 tons yielding about 630,000 dollars and an average near 40 dollars per ton due to lower grade ore and royalty considerations. The report notes shipments of leasers ore at 25 percent royalty and explains smelter tests lowered averages. Since February 1905 shipments valued at 600,090 dollars are cited. The Tonopah Railroad, 60 miles from Soraville to Tonopah, is owned by the company. net earnings July 1, 1904 to March 1, 1905 totaled 293,298 dollars. Plans for gauge changes and 100 stamp mill at The Wells are outlined, and consulting engineer John Hays Hammond has resigned.

Arkell Reaches Settlement With Creditors

W J Arkell, suspended from the San Francisco and Tonopah Mining Exchange for failure to provide for contracts, has settled with creditors. The settlement buys Tonopah Home stock at 9 cents a share, with notes for the balance representing the difference to the purchase price.
