Strike at Secret Canyon boosts Eureka district ore hopes

A new silver ore strike in Secret Canyon near Prospect Mountain uncovered a fourteen foot wide vein with surface soil and rock obscuring most of the body. Assays show 23 to 6 ounces per ton silver with bromide content. owners hold eleven claims and expect to define ore dimensions soon. The find excites miners and may revive activity in the Eureka district once busy in the early 1860s.

The First National Bank Mu annual meeting elected directors including J A, A E B Kim, B Ennor, C Noble, W Groat, H Taber and Seymour. A four percent semi annual dividend was declared and $25,000 added to surplus as 1919 proved the most prosperous since establishment. Eugene Davis Buys Eureka Silver Lick Property in Eureka Nevada

Eugene Davis acquires the Silver Lick Mining property at Eureka Nevada, comprising six patented and five unpatented claims. The mine has a history of ore output totaling over 50 000 dollars net by March 1896, with recent shipments yielding substantial profits. The Bureks district sees a January surge in mining activity as warm midwinter weather exposes prospects. The Silverado mine near Eureka, including the old Maryland location, produced rich ore with high silver values and ledges yielding up to 200000 in smelted ore. Jos Sweet reported plans to develop two tunnels and new drifts to access higher grade veins and promising surface veins showing 60 to 100 dollars per ton in silver.

Death of Mrs Annie Phillips in Nevada home

Mrs Annie Phillips aged 70 years 7 months and 26 days was found dead in her Hide street south Spring residence Saturday afternoon by grocery deliverer Harry father. Suspected death followed fainting spells after an old head injury. she had lived in Nevada for 40 years, most recently Sparks and Eureka. Funeral services Sunday were led by W K Reynolds and local women, with burial beside her husband in Eureka cemetery.

Death of Charles L. Broy After Silent Years in Eureka

Charles L. Broy of Eureka died at Reno after a heart illness. He had been county commissioner for 17 years, postmaster of Eureka for 17 years, and a Civil War veteran. Survived by his widow, he was 77 and a longtime resident of Eureka. He and his wife lost their first wife to drowning in the Good River disaster.
