Local Divorce Cases Seialize Custody And Alimony Awarded
In district court last Saturday a decree dissolved the marriage between Alms Pardue Josey and John Edward Josey. The suit, filed December 20, 1921, cited cruelty and infidelity with a letter from San Diego cited in evidence. Custody of the minor children went to the mother, and $25 monthly alimony was ordered for partial maintenance. The defendant did not appear. A separate suit filed January 10 by Elizabeth Englebright against George A. Englebright cites desertion and failure to provide.

Nevada bootleggers flourish in Reno say federal official

County Officers to Serve for Four Years
A misapprehension exists about the Nevada bill extending terms of county officers. Section 17 of the act, approved March 9 1966, now reads that County Clerks Sheriffs Assessors Treasurers District Attorneys County Surveyors Recorders and Public Administrators are elected in 1922 and every four years thereafter, taking office the first Monday of January following election. Township officers and County Commissioners remain elected every two years as before.

After a summer review of eight mining claims in Secret Canyon held by the James Murray estate Eastern capital planned to take over. A heirs disagreement stalled the deal but in district court Tuesday an order allowed Dan Morrison executor to lease and option the estate property to the Secret Canyon Mining Company.

The Ruby Hill Sunday School organized on November 6 1921 with about half the Hill joining and a strong interest in Bible Lessons. In January the Wide Awake class formed with officers Ethel Jury president Ruby Jury vice president Vida Kitchen secretary and Roselind Jury treasurer. A January 14 social at Mrs J G Kitchen featured games cake and ice cream and on January 15 Rev L Rowe Williams spoke on regional work and praised the class spirit. Elko Independent reports a serious rabies outbreak near the Clubine ranch in Pleasant Valley. Initial counts listed six dead steers, but current reports indicate twenty steers killed there due to rabies. Coyotes in Pleasant Valley are blamed for spreading the disease among cattle.
