Two Legged Blaze: Basque Sheepman Crushed In Wagon Accident
Jose Unaindin of Pave and Martin Amestoy suffered severe leg injuries when a four horse wagon loaded with grain from Duckwater to a sheep camp near Fish Creek ran over both legs after a rock caused the wagon to tilt. Despite freezing conditions he crawled a mile and a half to the team, then rode to Eureka for medical aid. Dr Brennen reported multiple fractures and possible amputation, but expressed hope for recovery and eventual use of his legs.

Stolen Sheep Recovered From Eureka Theft
Isadore Sara reported in Eureka that about 200 head of Eureka Livestock Co. sheep stolen on Christmas night were returned. While herding near Moore's Station, a small band of sheep was found to be Eureka Livestock Co. stock in good condition, with roughly 40 extra sheep. The rustlers apparently abandoned the plan to move them south and returned the animals. It was unclear if other outfits also recovered their sheep.

Paige of Wool Shows Increase in Prices
President Jerry Shehan of the Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Eureka sent a telegram from Winnamuces to cashier Travers of the Eureka bank noting increased demand for wool and urging sheepmen to expect 25 cents per pound for Spring wool. The Reno Gazette notes rising prices with Idaho reports of 27 to 31 cents for various wools and a 50 percent price gain over 1921. Nevada growers are advised not to contract under current conditions.

1921 statistics show Tolyabe National Forest fifteenth in timber volume and tenth in timber value among 30 districts, with no saw mill for years. Timber used for fuel in mining camps. The reserve leads in grazing fee payments though four are delinquent. Cattle weights rose 75 to 100 pounds versus prior years as stockmen favor removing mustangs and delaying overgrazing. State and Federal Coyote Drive Expenditures in 1921 Nevada
The 1921 annual report shows $52,562.32 spent in Nevada on predatory animal control and rodent work, with the State contributing $17,921 and the Federal government $24,72.71. A total of 5,776 predatory animals were killed, mainly coyotes, with 2,387 by State hunters and 3,389 by Federal hunters. Forty-six hunters produced 381 coyotes and 79 bobcats in December, with poison the major method.
