Livestock Convention Sparks Fight Over Railroads and Packers

About 1000 delegates of the National Live stock Association met in Denver on January 10 and debated reorganizing to admit railroads and packers to the governing body. The plan, opposed by many Western stockmen, aimed to broaden the federation, arguing that wider scope would strengthen the organization, while opponents warned railroads and packers do not share cattlemen interests. The executive committee, drawn from involved industries, delayed the decision, and cattlemen temporarily withdrew from the hall as voting neared. Final results appear on the last page of the SeytTimen.
