A rich discovery 60 miles southwest of Bull Frog in the Gold Belt district is reported by A V Carpenter who helped locate claims. The strike covers a six by twelve mile area across Death Valley from Bull Frog, with three quartz ledges 2 to 6 feet wide showing copper stains and strong vein indicators. Assays yielded 4 to 176 dollars in gold from 24 samples. The site lies about 85 miles from Keeler, near a good wagon route, in a granite and porphyry region with timber and water nearby.
The Benjamin Franklin Fund managers in Boston report Andrew Carnegie will match the fund’s 400000 if the total fosters an industrial training school for men and women modeled after New York’s Mechanics and Tradesmen’s School and Cooper Union.
