Miners Toil Reduced Wages In Nevada Company

Nevada Consolidated Company at Ely cuts miners pay by 75 cents per day. Workers accept the cut and report no trouble. Clark County grain output more than doubles from 1917 to 1918, rising from 36,917 to 89,708 bushels threshed according to US Bureau data. Bert Trefrey, a miner at Friedman property Tungsten Humboldt County, killed instantly in a shaft explosion while others escaped.

Dry Law Gets First Setback in Nevada Case

The Reno Journal reports the bone dry law suffered a setback when Joe Brunetti, a Lake Street grocer, was discharged by Justice of the Peace Sidney Foster. The court found no guilty knowledge of liquor in Brunetti’s possession and he was released. Judge A E Cheney defended the defendant.
