School census effort targets clear district boundaries county wide
Deputy Superintendent A B Lightfoot urges cooperation with county committees to redefine school district lines in Kansas counties. He notes many districts have long standing boundaries, some over 25 years old, making property and roll eligibility unclear. Similar reorganization work is underway in Lincoln, Charehill, Humboldt, and Churchill. The law requires appointing a School Census Marshal age over 21 by March each year, sworn in and reported to the Superintendent. The 1907 census form includes many new questions and will be issued to marshals directly from the Department of Public Instruction.
