A tunnel under the English Channel is now seriously considered, with renewed prospects of passage despite prior military opposition.

Nevada's New Reformatory Planned for Elko

George Russell met Governor Oddie in Reno to discuss the State Industrial Home. No firm action yet, but the Governor promised to visit Elko later this month when the Board meets to adopt plans. Tax installments total about 11 000 dollars each in May and June, plus 5 000 dollars raised by Elko merchants, yielding 27 000 dollars for next June. Proposal to buy 51 acres from the Southern Pacific adjacent to Fernald land to create a farm. SP railroads will sell land at nominal figure. agent J. Skeen to finalize in Elko soon.
