Reno Man Killed by Train Near Polaris

Andrew Gavin a traveling salesman for the Nevada Packing Co of Reno was killed several days ago near Polaris five miles east of Truckee. He stepped from the westbound track into the path of an eastbound Southern Pacific train and was struck and instantly killed by the train moving toward Reno that he did not see in time.

Mines To Pay Corporation Tax Under Supreme Court Ruling

The Supreme Court ruled mining corporations must pay the Payne Aldrich tariff act corporation tax. About eight to ten million dollars have been paid under protest, with 500 suits filed to recover funds.
