In 18668 H F Dangberg known as patch Feed No 1 began farming on the east side. A cloud burst in Pineour hills flooded his fields and washed away much of his crop. He constructed levees to trap flood sediment and fertilizer, creating verdant pastures and ready land for plowing. Others copied his method as muddy flood waters aided cultivation and land rehabilitation.
