Electric Railway Plans Stir Oregon Cities and Valley

T W Sheridan head of First Nations Bank of Roeeburg seeks Portland council consent for an electric railway down Front Street. The project envisions a Marshfield to Rosenary line then to Portland, with rights of way from Roseburg to Marshfield and farmers offering parage. Salem Citizens Light & Traction also eyes Portland extension, with miles of right of way secured north of Salem, while officials warn the line may be abandoned if Sheridan gains concessions. The move seems linked to A K Black’s Eugene franchise and valley ambitions.
