Turmoil spreads from Odessa to St Petersburg with mobs clashing with police, Jewish communities attacked, and shops and banks blocked. Reports say 37 killed in Odessa and hundreds wounded as revolutionary actions and strikes intensify across Russia.
Riverton Kentucky November 1 bank robbers who have terrorized Ohio Valley cities by binding safes and stealing thousands of dollars were shot after a raid on Willard Carter county. Four robbers were captured or killed, two escaped unharmed, one mortally wounded during a running fight as bloodhounds traced them to a field near a steam engine.
Sacramento, Nov. 1. Cope Neeley, a railroad worker, drank with acquaintances at Engineer McCue's house. He left with a woman, returned later and shot the McCue woman in the neck while Fred Sachs, another railroad man, was left with Sadie.
Eyewitness fragment notes Neeley shot at Sacha and a woman, then killed himself. Engineer McCue arrived from his row this morning and refused to talk. Sadie says the shooting stemmed from Jea waay on Neeley. Neeley knew Mrs McCue before her marriage. He left a note hoping Sacha would die and the woman recover, claiming he acted for his friend McCue.
Five American missionaries are reported killed in Lien Chow a town of 12 000 under Kuang Tang forces confirmation received by the foreign board of Presbyterian missions in New York and Cleveland November 1. The Presbyterian church maintains the mission at Lienchow with Rev and Mrs R C Mable Rev and Mrs Rees F Edwards and Miss Eleanor Cheatnot among those stationed there.
