Burglars Do More Work In Local Homes
A spate of break ins occurred across West Sixth Street and Willamette Street in a weekend series. At 708 Willamette, Dr. W L Cheshire lost about 80 dollars and a palm-sized desk key plus a pocketbook, with footprints suggesting a broad square-toed shoe. Rev J S McCallum’s home yielded small change, sermon notes, and a cake and milk, while a sermon desk saw wax drippings from a candle. An attempted entry on West Thirteenth and Charnelton streets prompted a pursuit but the robbers fled, leaving the neighborhood on edge.

Hermann's Hay Prices and Tariff Rant
In Albany Democrat a reader recounts Hermann's claim that hay costs 20 a ton now versus 7 under the Wilson bill, blaming high tariffs for the rise. He dismisses tariff causation and likens it to winter floods, noting the inconsistency of such reasoning. A boy of ten should be ashamed of such foolishness.
