Hops in Salem Sell at 20 Cents a Pound Yesterday
Four hops sales in Salem fixed the price at 20 cents per pound. Rachmund & Pincus of Salem purchased three blocks totaling 20,000 pounds, Hill & Bearnard bought 10,000 pounds at Luckinmute, W. W Falk of Salem bought 10,000 pounds, and a Reedville grower contracted for 5,000 pounds. Catlin & Linn also sold a block, details undisclosed. California reports indicate 20 cent hops at Sonoma.

Cow dies after drinking paint from buckets
Chas F Croner’s valuable mile cow died last night after a short illness. A post mortem by Dr Hopkins found the cow’s stomach filled with paint. Sign painters at work on Croner’s barn may have left buckets accessible to the animal.
