Community weighs High School district plan at city hall

A Friday night meeting in the city hall discussed forming a High school district from Encampment Riverside and No 8 Dunkard areas. Opponents feared taxes. officials argued the two mills cap and $2 yearly per $1000 value would fund a public High school. Supporters from Encampment Riverside and No 8 pledged strong backing and building a model school.

A current report notes street talk that the Penn Wyoming properties have been sold to Salt Lake City interests. The paper has no conclusive evidence and presents the claim as heard.

Peters Wilcox Nuptials at St James Church

A wedding of Miss Eula Wilcox and Mr. James J. Peters took place at St. James church on Wednesday at noon. Rev. Wm H Haupt performed the ring ceremony with W G Wilcox as father of the bride and Ruth Hopka as bridesmaid. The couple will reside in Ely Nevada following a four course supper at the bride’s home.

Saturday Night Program at City Hall

City hall offers Saturday night program with films including Dr. Killem's Dope and Back to the Farm plus Last of the Red Man. Dot Farley stars in the Luna drama. Three reels feature. A dance will follow the show each Saturday night. Bring someone along.

Death of Glenn Rhoades A Sad Encampment Tragedy

Glenn Rhoades 14, son of Mr and Mrs E C Rhoades, died Tuesday at 3 15 after a week long illness from appendicitis operation. Funeral held Wednesday at Episcopal church with Rev W H Haupt. school children and choir sang Abide With Me and Safe in the Arms of Jesus. Pallbearers were local youths John Delaney Helmer Peterson Harold Neiswender Harlan Nichols. Encampment businesses closed. many flowers, some from Cheyenne. out of town relatives attended.

The Record apologized for a missing Encampment feature while reporting Arch ie Anderson and his thoroughbred stock. He won belts in Belgian stallion Belgian mares Belgian stud colt best harness team and Percheron mares with first and second place finishes.

Walcott news notes a new S E depot nearly finished with finishing work to follow and a round house under construction with stalls for two engines. Residents Aukland and Brown attend supper with Wood, and Brown plans to move to Walcott, residing on Steward avenue. Cattle cars move from the canyon and Saratoga. Della and Alice Dinger visit from Fort Steele to Saratoga to see Mrs. Montgomery. Della to work as Walcott hotel waitress. Sunshine club mothers plan annual banquet, date to be announced.
