New Synod Formed in Wyoming Presbyterian Churches
Ministers from Presbyterian churches across Wyoming gathered in Laramie last Thursday to form the new Synod of Wyoming. Rev. M. DeWitt Long of Sheridan was elected moderator, Rev. John Ralph Voris of Laramie was named stated clerk, with Rev. H. W. Bainton of Cheyenne as temporary assistant clerk. Dr. Long, Sheridan, is the oldest Presbyterian pastor in Wyoming by service.

After a three month Western forest tour the assistant forester of the Washington forest service branch predicts a bright future for lodgepole pine in the central Rockies as a railroad tie source. Annual tie cuts reach 1.5 to 2 million with output rising as eastern timber declines. About 40 billion feet remain in national forests, with Wyoming holding 5.5 billion and Colorado four billion. Bonneville forest supplies 350–400 thousand ties yearly to Chicago & Northwestern. Union Pacific uses hundreds of thousands from Evanston and Larame areas. other Colorado mills supply several railroads. Lodgepole pine, 6 to 15 inches diameters, takes preservatives well due to its even, close grain.

Thomas A Cosgriff, prominent western banker and businessman, died at his Denver home after two weeks of typhoid illness. He helped found a large banking network across Wyoming Idaho Utah and Colorado and built major western infrastructure including the Cheyenne electric railway and San Luis Valley railroad. Survived by wife daughter two sisters and three brothers. He led multiple First National Banks including Cheyenne and Rawlins and headed Hamilton National Bank Denver. Funeral held at Conception Cathedral with services at 11 o clock.

Encampment Garage Enlarged to Double Capacity
The Encampment garage has been remodeled over the past week and now handles twice the business as before. The work room has been enlarged to double its former capacity and new conveniences make this one of the best garages in the region.
Sunshine Club Banquet for City Girls at Hall
The mothers of the Sun shine Club hosted their annual banquet for the girls at city hall last Friday. Tables were adorned with flowers and fine tableware and filled with chicken pie, cranberry sauce, creamed potatoes, biscuits, coffee, ice cream, cake, and other treats. Halloween themed place cards and napkins set the tone as girls enjoyed games into the night with Mesdames Hopka and Rhoades providing piano music.
