Tourists urged to visit Encampment country this spring

Tourists and travelers are urged to explore the Encampment country along the Platte and Encampment rivers in Colorado and Wyoming this spring and summer. The area offers abundant trout, beautiful scenery, and campgrounds. Roads connect to Tie Siding and Rawlins via the Lincoln Highway. Local businessmen plan a log and map guide to promote camping and fishing grounds.

Petition Urges Repair of Rambler Road by County

A circulated petition from Rambler and Encampment residents asks Asking County to repair the Rambler Road from Encampment to the Battle basin. The road is said to be in poor condition with heavy summer travel by tourists ranchers and miners. Petition by Soren J Sorensen and Chas Goodaker will be presented to the commissioners next meeting. Mining boom and social notes in Saratoga district

Local items report whooping cough cases in the area and social visits by Miss Wombeker and Miss Mary Bohn. W. F. Hopka hosted a whist party, and W T Peryam visited Big Creek for Cox mine sale work. The Charter Oak plans heavy ore shipments from a newly found rich copper deposit while the Haskins mine on the Continental Divide, owned by W B Haskins & Co of Providence, reveals sixteen claims and a high grade sulfide ore with red oxides.

Trip to Tipperary at the Reading Room

Over fifty attended the Tipperary trip event at the reading room last Thursday night. The crowd eagerly anticipated a meet with St Patrick and kissing the blarney stone. A neat sum was raised for the society treasury. The room was festively decorated and refreshments were served.

First Day of Spring Brings Snow and Wind to Encampment

Tuesday marked the first day of spring but Encampment saw snow for hours in the early morning followed by a strong wind that damaged several telephone poles. Jim Anderson, who has maintained a logging crew at Fox Park, returned Monday and will reopen his blacksmith shop for the summer and fall.

Forest Service Expands National Forest Roads and Reforestation

Forest notes report about 25 000 miles of roads trails and fire lines built, and plans to plant 700 000 young trees on Pikes Peak slopes near Cascade. The spring program covers 742 acres in the Colorado watershed with expanded facilities including 108 miles of roads 1 719 miles of trails 2 287 miles of telephone lines 14 miles of fire lines and new lookouts bridges fences and stock improvements. Weather proof guide maps will be installed at main road entrances for campers autoists and hikers detailing camping recreation sites routes and rafter stations.

Moving to the Country The Record heads to Cow Creek ranch

The Record announces its move to a Cow Creek ranch this week and notes that Mrs. Little, longtime local reporter and solicitor, will be unavailable during spring and summer. James R. Little will handle daily office work and outside paper duties. The notice also mentions many land restoration requests being relinquished by the state.

St Patrick's Dance Hosted by Royal Neighbors in Encampment

The St Patrick's dance at Encampment city hall, hosted by the Royal Neighbors, drew a large crowd from local ranches and nearby towns. Music came from Leake of Encampment and Lemon of Saratoga. A six o'clock chicken pie supper and a midnight lunch were well attended, and the event continued past four in the morning.
