Postal Savings System marks tenth anniversary with new card
The United States Postal Savings System marks its tenth anniversary by issuing a free new savings card to replace the 10-cent card. The card, valid at any depository office after ten 10-cent stamps are affixed, deposits up to cash value. The card features a translation into 24 languages pledging the U S to depositors. The program began January 1 1901 at 48 post offices, with deposits surpassing 12 million and over 500000 depositors. Authorities seek higher interest rates. congressional action expected.
