Anton Vetter, a longtime settler and business figure in Selz, died of consumption in Hague Sunday afternoon at 1 30. Born January 16 1868 in South Russia he was 37 years 7 months and 11 days old. He arrived in Eureka in 1892 moved to Emmons county four years later and ran businesses in Selz Arras and then banking at Hague. Funeral held at St Marys church near Hague. He leaves a wife and five children.
A Bowdle area farm story recounts Anna Schaff, age about 16, who freed her severed arm from a thrashing machine belt after it twisted and pulled her arm from the elbow. She kept control, bled freely, and was moved to Bowdle for care with no fainting.
