Winchester Hearsay Aged Elsie Wescott Dies at Beaver Creek

Miss Elsie Wescott died at her father's Beaver Creek home on Saturday March 4 and was buried in Winchester after services at the schoolhouse led by Rev. Rea of Steele. A large crowd attended. The week also saw local accidents including John Parker dislocating a hip and Fred Carrow injuring his leg near Eureka.

Mantle Named to Montana Senate Vacancy

Gov. Richards appoints Lee Mantle of Butte to the Montana Senate vacancy as Democrats regroup after a failure to elect their nominee. Mantle, a newspaper man and Republican, will serve two years, with the party noting North Dakota losses partly recovered.
