Woman and Child Die in House Fire Near Linton
Remains found in ruins after a blaze at the old McCauliffe place northeast of Linton destroys the wife and four year old son of Sebastian Materi. The husband was away at Zeeland and a hired man briefly left the home. Authorities suspect gasoline or kerosene use and will pursue the case as a possible accident or crime as the house burns and a hot cellar fire lingers. The victims were buried in the Catholic cemetery at Linton.
