Prairie fire ravages wide area across North Dakota

In Towner and Minot reports a prairie fire burned about 250 miles across land Friday afternoon, still active though weakened. Minot police probe arson tied to three separate fires using oil soaked paper, causing heavy damage only at the Wm. Scofield residence.

Prairie fires burn 250 square miles in North Dakota region

Mandan April 10 Nearly 250 square miles of territory have been burned by four prairie fires that started yesterday afternoon and last night. The fires swept from Freda in Morton county aided by a 40 mile gale, reaching five miles in width. Bert Hicks and B H Finch lost all farm buildings near Timmer as the blaze moved toward the Missouri river and South Dakota. Dozens of other places are thought destroyed.
