The annual report from St Alexius Hospital in Bismarck highlights extensive care across the Missouri Slope under Sister Boniface. The paper notes the hospital serves every neighborhood in the tributary counties and credits the sisters for their selfless service to all without regard to race or creed.
A letter from N D April 6 1904 clarifies that Dale Camp Modern Woodmen of America is not backing any member in criminal acts. It cites Woodmen by laws Sec 335 expulsion upon felony conviction and notes the absence of any committee action required.
Interest grows in an annual Memorial Day event in the county. Comrade Wright of Bismarck may speak on May 30 after returning from the East. The George A. Custer Post No. 1, once based at Fort Yates and now in Winona, displays a 40 by 20 foot Old Glory at Comrade Southwick's carpenter shop. The post, pioneer in the state, hopes to revive activity after years of dormancy following a damaging fire and decline in membership.
Official Proceedings show the Emmons County Board of Commissioners meeting in Linton on April 4 and 6, 1904. They established a public road across the Chicago Milwaukee and St Paul and Northern Pacific Railways right of way, granted bids on ferry privileges, approved road supervisors, and audited wolf bounty, taxes, and court fees with multiple adjournments and reports.
Notice to Contractors invites sealed bids in Emmons County North Dakota for furnishing materials and erecting a four room high and graded school building in Winchester School District No 5. Bids due May 2004 at 2 o clock PM to John F Sell Emmons County. Separate bids requested for steam heating and plumbing with a $200 bid bond and a $100 bid bond respectively. Plans and specifications available at Linton ND office after April 15. The School Board reserves right to reject any or all bids.
