Publisher sues nonpayers in Illinois arresting due men

The Ill inois publisher sued forty three men who refused to pay subscriptions and won judgments. Twenty eight claimed no property beyond exemptions and faced attachments. Following a supreme court ruling they were arrested for petty larceny and bound over for 400 dollars each. All but six posted bonds. six remained jailed.
