Death in a Well Tragedy Shocks Local Community
The first violent death in the neighborhood occurred March 31 at 8 o'clock when Daniel Procunier died in a well on Henry Chapman’s claim. Co-workers failed to detect toxic gas. Procunier fell to the bottom, neck and limbs broken, and was later laid to rest beside his family. Households mourn the loss of a husband and father as the community reflects on the accident.
