Lorain County Fair Draws Nearly 315000 Attendance
Lorain County Agricultural Society reports about 315000 attendees at Thursday’s county fair, with over 12000 paid admissions. Weather ideal, exhibitors include Pittinger Roof Paint, Norwalk Eureka sanitary tubs, Dréher piano, Oberlin Carriage and Implement, and Canada wheat display. Side shows drew crowds and Eugene Sites pony exhibit weighed 9 1/2 pounds. Races featured a high order trot and pace.

In a heated contest four wards saw candidates pledge support with little opposition. Jack McKerron set a two year old half mile track record in the final heat. In the Sixteenth ward Heng Erdman was defeated by David Inner, while in the Fourteenth ward Joseph Bets beat B E Heresey for the state candidate slot.

Lorain voters in Meld township approved a slate of official selections. Justice of the peace candidate Horsely led with 67 votes to 47 for Leonard. Township trustee Sam Ellen defeated Orville Root 87 to 11. Dr. R Robinson elected trustee unanimously. Assessor of personal property M Meyers chosen. Leonard and Jones elected to county committee. A Central Labor Union inspection committee, including C A Miller and Floyd Eis, was tasked to review local building owners and inquire about idle union labor. The same committee to visit Hester Brewing Company agents. Trades unions report ample work. carpenters say conditions fair, bakers complain excess nonunion bread wage. Rector E Hely Molony and bride, formerly librarian, hosted reception at Church of the Redeemer. W J Hughes presented a purse to Molony. Lorain Uniform Bank and K of P held a large dance at Glenn’s Beach. Tonight a progressive supper by Gawn Avenue M E Church ladies travels from Mrs Gawn to Mrs Todd with a fee for church benefit.
