An advertisement promises cures for various diseases by a new absorbing medicine system and offers free contact, with medical consultation and tests. The notice then shifts to a sheriff sale in Lorain County Ohio with sale details, appraised value, and cash sale terms.
President McKinley was shot twice at the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo by an anarchist. He was taken to the Emergency hospital, regained consciousness, then moved to Milburn's home as investigators detained a suspect named Leon Czolgocz, also known as Fred Nieman, who claimed anarchist motives.
In Buffalo on September 10 a dozen experts close to President McKinley’s bedside report comfort, stating the President has a good chance for life if no complications arise. They note his improving temperature, respiration, pulse, and overall condition after the operation, with a quick recovery.
The report describes the President being shot around 4:00. One bullet struck the upper body, another penetrated the abdomen near the left nipple. Surgeons opened the abdomen and found a stomach wound which was closed with silk stitches. A back-wall stomach hole was located and similarly closed. No intestinal injury was found and no drainage was used.
A reverent petition asks Almighty God to heal President McKinley and grant him strength to serve in God’s will. The prayer seeks consolation, salvation, and guidance should his life be prolonged, invoking Jesus Christ and urging mercy on the nation.
