Mrs. Henry Brandan aged fifty two died suddenly at her Brownhelm home after suffering a stroke in Oberlin while attending the Grange convention. Funeral services were conducted from her home and Dubbs church at Brownhelm with interment at Brownhelm. Roy Schmoke of Brownhelm officiated.

Dangerous Storm Interruption Prevents Major Wreck
Heavy Friday storms toppled a large tree onto the L A and M S Railway between North Amherst and Elyria. A fast freight train passed moments later and alerted North Amherst. The Twentieth Century Limited diverted to Elyria, avoiding a near catastrophe had the tree not been spotted in time to stop, possibly saving many lives.

The dead man from a freight train tragedy near Lorain is identified as John Rossman alias John Leach, 19, a Cleveland laborer traveling with three companions to find work. He fell from the train and was ground to pieces. Rossman hailed from Brazil Indiana and had lived in Cleveland. His companions were Harry Henderson Arthur Carroll and Jamee Payne. Separately John Burgner of East River street learned his brother in law H W Daykin of Granger Medina County had taken his own life, believed due to melancholia from illness, and left for Medina.

A letter from Delaware authorities says she has become insane and requests the sheriff bring her back to Elyria. Commissioners question legal authority to pay travel costs. no decision yet.
