Woman Fatally Burned as Lamp Explodes in Wellington

Mrs B. W. Madole 88 was fatally burned when a wall lamp exploded as she removed it to blow out the flame. Her clothing burned, she died within hours. Her son, who tried to help, was badly burned and remained unconscious and in critical condition. The family had moved from Carlisle township three months earlier.

Developments in Cleveland explain recent traction stock activity. Lake Shore Electric’s voting trust to dissolve as Cleveland & Southwestern and Lake Shore Electric merge within sixty days. If completed, centralized power and reduced competition could lower operating costs and boost earnings, with annual meeting set for January 24. Some creditors fear. others expect a second mortgage if the deal fails.

City boards discuss water use and town repairs in meeting

At a public service board meeting the decision was made to charge 6 cents per 1000 gallons for customers using over 500000 gallons monthly. Plans include repairing a culvert on Sugar Ridge road and the town hall roof. The city may buy three snow plows and 236 new services were added last month. The safety board receives the old safe, but will not insure their half of the city hall due to lack of funds. The Columbus insurance board cuts waterworks coverage to 75 cents. Concerns raised over damaged trees as tramps trim them.

Water Works Receipts Exceed Previous Year in 1905

Supt Willert reports Elyria water works receipts for the first three quarters of 1905 show a sum higher than all of 1904. The comparative statement records totals for 1904 and 1905, with the first three quarters of 1905 yielding 18,559.00 versus 18,268.00 in 1904, and various quarterly figures and prospective income noted.

Frenzied Freshmen Sophomores Clash Over Red Bunting

A lively high school scrap followed a Freshmen flag dispatch on Sixth Street. Both classes claim victory after red bunting was raised atop the front yard flagpole and red caps were worn despite an official ban. Injuries reported, though each side argues no lasting harm. Professor Ebert questions conduct. school board had allowed similar incidents previously. Freshmen substitute red ribbons after caps are barred.

Court dates named for 1806 circuit and common pleas

The times for holding court in 1806 are listed for the Sth Judicial District and several counties. Judges Marvin Winch and Henry preside in Cuyahoga, Summit, Medina, Lorain, and other counties with dates set for Circuit Court and Court of Common Pleas sessions. Names of judges for each county and district are provided, including Reed, Buelland, Richards, Kohler, Hayden, Washburn, and others.

City May Appropriate Land for Sewage Plant

The city plans to begin eminent domain action to obtain land on the west side for a sewage disposal site. If L D Boynton refuses the council’s $3,000 offer, the board of public service will file suit. The board believes the amount is excessive and fears holdout by the property owner.

Rev E H Molony rector of the Church of the Redeemer Lorain and Elyria pastors returned from the annual convention ending in Sandusky Tuesday night He read the discussion on current events and adjournment decided the next convention would be held in Elyria The Married Peoples Dance was scheduled for the G A R Hall tonight.
