Prosecutor May Serve On Board Of Education

A 1905 Ohio Attorney General opinion clears Prosecutor Lee Stroup to join Elyria’s board of education without acting as its legal adviser, stating the prosecuting attorney is not the board’s legal adviser by law. The Elyria board discussed building use, office space, bids on tearing down the East Side school, and insurance reaudits.

Hayride to Belden Ends With Fun Evening

A large group of Elyria youths left the Lake Shore waiting room Saturday at eight for Dolly Buckingham’s Belden home. They spent the evening in games and music and returned early Sunday morning reporting an enjoyable time.

Disposed Cases Move Through Common Pleas Court

Several cases in the court of common pleas have been settled or remanded. A dam age action from the Cottasbrooke wreck was settled at defendant’s cost with Hammer winning 8000 dollars after a circuit court reversal. A divorce suit by Sarah Noble against Stewart Noble was withdrawn after a prior public altercation. Settlement reached in the Elgar will case with unknown terms. Deputy Salisbury shipped three recently sentenced prisoners to Mansfield reformatory.

Fire damages frame house on Webber property

Sparks from a neighbor's chimney spread across the road into the Webber home on Tuesday morning. Flames ignited lace curtains, destroying upper floor furniture valued at 250 dollars. interior damage estimated at 150 dollars. Residents included George Mizer and family occupants Chadwick and Duffy. Mrs Mizer fainted at the scene. building insured but contents uninsured.

Shooting Incidents Prompt Police Action in Hunkytown

Police arrest Joseph Dora on Monday night on charges of dis orderly conduct and shooting within city limits. He pleads guilty to shooting and is fined twenty five dollars plus costs but cannot pay, so he is sent to work on the streets.

Mayor's Salary Up To 1200 A Year In Elyria Meeting

Elyria city council discussed raising the mayor's salary to 1200 per year plus fees at a Monday committee of the whole session. Members debated including the East Bridge street bridge and lighting contracts with Citizen's Gas and Electric. opinions favored advertising competitive bids as many deem the lighting price high. The board of public service salaries may be set at 400 per year each.

Delivery boy’s dump case ends with mayor’s decision

An Elyria grocer’s delivery boy admitted disposing rubbish at the city dump. The court heard witnesses as defense claims Prof. Reefy allowed dumping with no decaying vegetables. After testimony, the mayor resumed judgment while Foster left for Cadillac on a business trip.
