A Wednesday evening blaze near Hobbs restaurant in Oberlin's business district damaged the bakery space behind the restaurant, barely spreading to the Martinique Hotel area. Fire crews battled the flames for about an hour, while Mayor Fauver and Fire Marshal Hollenbeck weighed patrols and investigator options as detectives nationwide offered help.
Amid whistles and cheers the first Cleveland and Southwestern Electric car rolled into Wooster on Wednesday. A Hungarian worker at the American Shovel and Stamping Co. in Loraw caused a disturbance at the employment office. Watchman Dan Geary tried to eject him. in the ensuing scuffle the worker drew a revolver and fired at Geary, grazing his wrist. The assailant was overpowered and jailed on charges of shooting with intent to kill.
