A prominent Cleveland judge argued that lawyers who defend criminals known to be guilty corrupt the profession. He said lawyers aiding perjury or false defenses become party to crimes and moral wrecks. The judge favored refusal to defend known guilt unless extenuating circumstances exist.
Alexander Katanak a nineteen year old from Lorain was released on a 200 bond by Judge H Hinmar after appearing in Mayor King's court on Monday on a charge of assault and battery. He struck another boy in a quarrel breaking the youth's jaw and must appear for a hearing on Saturday.
Eleven firms submitted bids Monday for planning a new sewer system and for the subsequent disposal plant. Bids ranged from 200 to 91600 dollars for planning and from 450 to 6198 dollars for disposal. Action postponed as board orders investigation of all bids.
