An old advertisement touts DeWitt’s Witch Hazel Salve as a universal healer for cuts burns bruises piles and skin diseases. It includes testimonials from D EB Zickafoouse Adolph W Va and Seldby H A Dykeman warning against counterfeit products.
The Lorain County Teachers Association offers a spring institute at Oberlin College on Saturday May 13. The program includes talks on rural schooling advantages, ethics, daily preparation, practical language results, United States history, and high school grammar. Speakers include Grover, Myrtle Halliwell, Emma Finlay, Mary Tilburg, O R Patterson, and Mrs J A Abell.

In Lorain the Benton estate faced repeated court sales as Otis B. Benton and others saw property offered to satisfy Horace Benton’s 9 000 judgment. A first sale reached 5 000 then 1 000 but was set aside. the latest sale is ordered with pay-by date looming.
Fel Neal, a deranged vagrant, was removed from a streetcar by an officer and sent to Lorain after threatening to injure himself over lack of morphine. A doctor refused morphine and told him to die, while an onlookers and a druggist tried to calm him with restraint and care.
The funeral for J. H. Townsend who died early Tuesday morning at his Spruce street home was held Friday at 2 pm from the Baptist church with burial at Myria cemetery.
Mrs Margaret Crane of South Lorain was granted a divorce from DeForest Crane Friday afternoon by Judge Washburn. Crane a railroad engineer did not contest the action. Mrs Crane charged him with cruelty and habitual drunkenness.

An unusual ad promotes a cigar savings plan promising earnings of 830 a year. It mentions Chico brand cigars at five cents, a savings bank concept, and a return policy. Also notes weekly rail fare discounts on Sundays by Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway, with details pending.
