Mrs Henke and Mrs McKay aided a fire at a home on Unity Street when a lamp exploded during play. Mrs Henke escaped burning but was stricken. Mrs McKay rushed to help and suffered burns to hands while a child cried out and a man named Frank received minor injuries.
City faces higher pavement bids as injunctions and lawsuits tied to Middle Avenue and West East avenues disrupt contracts. Local Royal Arcanum members will travel to Cleveland tonight for a banquet and reception, and the lodge will be inspected.

George Hubbard 24 died at a South Lorain blast furnace after a coal gas explosion struck three Hungarian workers. He tried to aid two men, collapsing himself. Edward Hubbard his brother also works there and had previously rescued him. Funeral plans not yet made.
Five crack marksmen of the Elyria gun club travel to LaGrange to compete as a team against clubs from Cleveland Bern New London Spencer and LaGrange. Elyria’s lineup includes C. J. Smith C. E. Hancock W. J. Hillier H. B. Martindale and I. C. H. Blanchard.
A dog owned by Mrs C H Mallory on West Bridge Street became violent in the heat on Wednesday and Thursday. Police took the animal to the rear of the station and shot it after Chief Amith fired five bullets, hitting the dog four times in the head and once in the neck. The owner feared the dog would bite someone.
