Philip Deidrich, 65, paid fines for intoxication and was released. Edward Flynn and Felip Liski, Hungarian, faced the mayor for vagrancy. Flynn fined five dollars plus costs. Liski released due to poor health with a physician’s certificate. Liski, a coal miner from Hocking town, with hospital stay, claims to be seeking work as a tailor but lacks funds. He appears to have consumption, is a union member, and shows dues through February 8, 1908.

The case was delayed after the mayor postponed proceedings due to illness of Mrs. Cline. A physician examination confirmed illness, with an estimated three weeks before she could attend court.

Edward Flyeo fined for vagrancy refused to work with a street gang. He claimed illness and malaria. the mayor sent for Dr Sampsell who found no illness. Flyeo chose to work for thirteen days on the city project, and may avoid Elyria in the future. Street hobos have become scarce as a result.

Foreigners Arrive in Lorain In Large Party From Europe

A special coach carrying five dollars for one loners direct from Europe arrived in Lorain Saturday over the B and C. The arrival marks one of the largest groups of foreigners to Lorain this year. Four women are in the party and officials note a rising trend in foreign arrivals as Lorain’s industries attract workers from abroad.

Contractors Awarded for Canton Pipe Supply

Last Saturday Sooney Southhonera awarded the contract to C. N. Carpenter of Canton for furnishing the county with cast iron pipes for culverts. Pipes range from 6 inches to 86 inches in diameter and the contract price is about 29 per ton. About $9,000 worth a year is used.

Convention Dates Point to May County Meet

Delegates and candidates of the judicial dhatries will meet in Cleveland next Saturday to set a convention date. The state convention is expected four to six weeks later, with the county event likely mid May after the state date is fixed by the county executive chairman in Walting.

Stone Road Petition Faces County Meeting

Farmers near Oberlin petitioned for a mile long stone road east of Oberlin from Page's corners but the county commissioners refused this year. They praised existing good roads and backed macadamizing East Brig avenue into Lorain. A plan to place stone on ten miles of roads may require about 100 cars and roughly $35,000.
