Amherst to Elyria for water supply

Elyria may become the water supplier for nearby villages as Mayor Baker of North Amherst and a delegation meet Elyria officials to set a price for selling municipal water. An April 25 vote will decide if water should be obtained from skin aloe or not, with opposition and plans for a joint water main.

Wires to be Removed from Trees on Middle Avenue

Mayor Folger ordered the traction company to remove wires from trees on Middle avenue by Friday. The company will use Hello Telephone Company poles for the lines. Electric damage from the wires has harmed the trees.

Engineer Rice Proposes Revisions to East Avance Sewer Plan

Walter P. Rice of Clava recommends changing the trunk line from the southern city limits to Fourth Street and routing through Blaine Street to Lincoln Court and East River Street to save cost. He notes no sewer provision for Hewage in original lots 12, 13 and 14 and urges City Engineer Griffin to consult with him in Cleveland. the board did not act on the suggestions.

Boy's Leg Broken by Stone on Fourth Street

Five year old Sean Hayre was injured Thursday afternoon when a heavy stone fell on his left leg on a stone pile on Fourth Street. The leg was broken below the knee. The accident involved the stock of shoes and rubber goods at O. R. Cleveland.

Public Works Delayed After Funding Question Halts Washington Avenue

The board of public service refused to award the Washington Avenue contract to Warren Brothers Thorsday night citing lack of city treasury funds. Court decisions prompted slowed progress, delaying work for weeks. The board accepted the resignation of Street Commissioner Wesley Weller and a successor has not yet been chosen. A Lorain resident reports damage to property from the water main project. Old opera house seats sold for 25 dollars and will be moved to a lodge room.

School Announces One-Week Easter Vacation

The public school will close tonight for Easter vacation lasting one week. The schedule change affects students and staff as holidays begin this week.

Banquet Planned for Chamber of Commerce

Arrangements are complete for tonight's chamber of commerce banquet with about two hundred attendees. The Hotel Andwa' manager will relocate most of the ground floor to accommodate the event, placing tables in the dining room and lobby, which will be closed to hotel guests. Police Ask to Locate Stolen Horse from Peter Stone

Elyria police were alerted Friday to search for a horse and buggy belonging to Peter Stone of near the Steel Plant. The horse was taken Thursday night after Stone’s hired man left it tied to a vest while he went into a store. Stone had recently offered 115 for the horse but had not accepted a bid.

Mayor threatens drastic action over bridge tracks

The mayor said he would have the Ohio and Western tracks removed from the East bridge within 24 hours if the council does not act. He criticized the council for giving the company until October 1 to remove tracks after an earlier 30 day order and warned of extended delays.

Judge halts Persons Lumber Co on Torcaracas Street

Pro bate Judge Hinman issued an order restraining George A. Persona and the Persons Lumber and Coal Co from taking possession of a section of Torcaracas Street Friday morning. The city solicitor filed the petition after Persona showed no will to obey the city council by halting construction in the street. The petition says Persona built a cellar in the street and will move his office building onto it unless restrained. The city has owned the street for 21 years and Persona claims a legal right to adjoining property he seeks to take.

Baby's Cry Triggers Mother’s Rage in Jail

Mrs. Catherine Lovoski, a two month old child at home, cried as she spent three hours in a police cell on Friday morning. She vented anger at the iron bars in Hungarian and was later fined five dollars plus costs for coal theft near the Fox furnace. her husband had recently died.

Wellington lodge invites members to a stated communication Tuesday evening March 28. A special car leaves Elyria at 6 o'clock. Suit Over Ten Houses In Lorain County

The Lorain Land & Building Company was named defendant in a common pleas court suit by J R Leighton and A J Leighton alleging the firm agreed to erect ten houses in Lorain for 775 92 each. They claim changes to plans left the company owing 9390 20 for work done.
